YA Indie Carnival!

Welcome to The Shootin' Gallery and the nineteenth post in the YA Indie Carnival. The carnival is designed for authors, readers and reviewers of YA Indie books. Each Friday this team of YA Indies will post on a common theme.

This week’s post theme is On the rise... YA Fantasy!

Who knows why this seems to be the new trend with young people and adults alike but I for one find it refreshing. Maybe people are more drawn to these books because they know when they read them they can escape to another world, far from reality and the day in and day out monotony of their every day life... or maybe not. Maybe the answer is more simple. YA Fantasy books are just so darn cool!

Either way I find the timing of this post theme to be quite convenient. Beginning at midnight on November 18th movie theaters all over the world will premiere, Breaking Dawn Part One, the first film to document the last book in the Twilight Saga. It has been a wild ride has it not Twilight fans? I wish I could say that am one of the crazed adoring fans that will be present for the opening of this film but unfortunately work calls upon me too early in the morning. I will have to wait it out a little longer. Such a bummer, I know...

At any rate, The Twilight series isn't the only YA book to reach the silver screen these days. Don't forget about J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter series. I suspect Ms. Rowling is largely responsible for this new trend in popularity with YA fantasy books. Another great read to hit the screens is Rick Riodan's Percy Jackson series as well as Pitticus Lore's I am Number Four.

Here is a list of some other YA Fantasy books turned films which are anticipated to hit movie theaters in the near future.

Firelight by Sophie Jordan

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

Wake by Lisa McMann

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
