Help!

Hello everyone! It would appear as though Blogger has resuscitated itself. My comments are working and my followers are once again smiling at me, yay! So, now I have another favor...

I am searching for the following:

1 - Reviewers for Soul Quest. I would provide a free electronic copy of Soul Quest to any interested/potential reviewer and of course I would expect nothing less than an entirely honest review. No pressure...

2 - I am looking for a Blog Tour to participate in to promote Soul Quest and my upcoming novel The Guardians of Souls which I anticipate releasing in August.

3 - Advice about Twitter. I tried to sign up for Twitter, but to be honest I don't really understand how it works. I understand that it is a great promo tool so if anyone might feel so inclined, please dumb down the concept for me and then explain how it is a way to promote books.

4 - I would love to do a Giveaway of Soul Quest on another blog (ecopies of Soul Quest provided by yours truly). I wouldn't mind doing this on multiple blogs.

Those who have read Soul Quest have conveyed positive feedback but I feel like it is still rather unknown. I'm looking to boost sales and I believe the key is to heighten awareness about it. I would welcome any support, advice and commentary on promoting Soul Quest.

XO

  1. Hi Amy,

I can certainly help with #3 and perhaps a couple of the others. In terms of Twitter I totally know how you feel. I think I understand how it works and how to use it now, but that doesn’t mean I still get it, because I don’t!!! LOL. My husband says to think of Twitter like a Facebook Fan page. But the posts are shorter, sort of like texting. People can follow you on Twitter and read the short little messages you post. It can give them a little insight into who you are, what you’re about and what you’re up to. We are careful not to say things like “just off to the store” or “going away for the weekend.”

You can use Tinyurl.com to post any long url in a very short form. So for example – the link to your book –
    http://www.amazon.com/Soul-Quest-Trilogy-ebook/dp/B004OL26JY/

    can be shortened to:
    http://tinyurl.com/3lenvd5

Too much self promotion turns people off. If you think about it, who wants to see an advertisement all the time. So I mix it in with little bits of personal info because, even though I’m not a huge fan of chatting that kind of thing, readers do want to get to know you as the author.

I’d be happy to review your book on my blog, except I don’t have very many followers there so I don’t know how helpful it would be. Although, I suppose it would be tweeted and I do have more followers there. So it’s up to you.
    Hope this helps,

    Cheri Schmidt
PS: I see you got my book. I hope you like it...obviously : )

  3. Hey Amy!
If I can help, just let me know. I'd be happy to review and promote your book :) Another non-twitter person here, but I'd definitely be willing to help spread the word.
Thanks for the nomination, and good luck with this!

  4. I would say Cheri described Twitter really well. It's a great way to get you and your books out there. I find a lot of new authors and friends on Twitter all the time. Others can retweet one of your tweets that others may not have seen from you. Follow author, blogger & reader friends, and follow people they follow and spread the word! Hope this helps, I love Twitter, I'm on there almost every day.

  5. Amy! My dearest! First of all - don't make your twitter "by request only", it's best if you let everyone see your tweets :)
Second - I'd say you should visit Rusty Fischer's blog, he has the whole Twitter thing nicely explained in his posts, as well as many other awesome tips on how to promote your ebooks!
    Here's the link:
    http://zombiesdontblog.blogspot.com/
I believe he even has a free "Zombies Don't Tweet" ebook with tips on Twitter! Very helpful :)
If there's anything else I can do - post excerpts from The Guardians of Soul or anything else, really - let me know!
You can always count on me!

  6. Hi Everyone! Wow, thanks for all of your kind and helpful responses, especially about Twitter. I think I am making headway there. I will have to find all of you on there and follow, or if you follow me first I will follow back.

Evie - I didn't even know my account was set up to "private" tweets. Is that automatic? Anyway, I changed it to "open" but before that I responded to your request so you should be able to follow me now. I will go check out the blog you mentioned it sounds really good.

Cheri, Stacey and Ninja Girl - I will contact you personally through your blog/emails about the reviews and/or giveaways you expressed interest in helping me with. Any review is a good thing, even if you don't blog it. Posting it on Amazon, Smashwords, etc... always helps. I have noticed whenever I get a new review (on Goodreads or Amazon especially) my sales increase for a day or two.

    Thanks again for the feedback.
    XO!
